Ecklonia Cava

Antioxidants from a Rare Sea Extract

  • Ecklonia Cava is a species of brown algae native to the North Pacific waters off the coast of South Korea and Japan
  • As an antioxidant, Ecklonia Cava has a higher Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity than spinach, blueberries, and popular antioxidant supplements
  • Research has shown Ecklonia Cava’s positive impact on blood circulation and vasodilation
  • Clinical studies have suggested that taking 600mg of Ecklonia Cava daily can lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol
  • Clinical study participants taking 900mg/day experienced increases in stamina and endurance
  • Fat-soluble
  • All-natural

Ecklonia Cava is an extremely rare seaweed native to the North Pacific waters off the coast of South Korea. This “superfood” has proven to be one of the most extraordinary antioxidants ever discovered. It has undergone $39 million worth of clinical studies that confirm it has nearly 100 times the free-radical fighting power of nearly every land-based antioxidant.

A Powerful Antioxidant
Its Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity (ORAC) is one of the most impressive aspects of Ecklonia Cava. Well-known “health foods” have ORAC scores in the hundreds to low thousands, with higher numbers representing greater antioxidant content. For example, the ORAC score of red grapes is 739, oranges 750, spinach 1,260, and blueberries 2,400. Popular antioxidant nutrients include Vitamin E 35, Resveratrol 791 and Tocotrienols 1,059. Ecklonia Cava’s ORAC score is an incredible 8,368.

Cardiovascular Support
Ecklonia Cava can assist in lowering LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. 600 mg daily has resulted in 17% lower LDL cholesterol, and 18 mg/dL lower triglycerides in clinical studies. A good portion of the scientific research on Ecklonia Cava has focused on its ability to act as an ACE inhibitor. ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) causes blood vessels to constrict. Blocking ACE allows blood vessels to open for optimal blood flow. It has long been known that antioxidants can stop free-radical damage within the body; Ecklonia Cava shows promise in this area by helping keep the walls and endothelial lining of the arteries healthy and flexible.

Brain Health, Joint Health, and Energy
Ecklonia Cava is fat-soluble, meaning it is capable of crossing the blood/brain barrier and delivering antioxidants to the brain. (Polyphenols, the “gold standard” of land-based antioxidants, are water-soluble only.) Specific research suggests Ecklonia Cava may increase the brain’s alpha waves, which allows the user increased alertness.

Ecklonia Cava also shows promise in reducing inflammatory enzymes, such as COX-2 and 5-LOX. Few natural pain relievers work on both of these enzymes.

Clinical study participants who took 900 mg per day of Ecklonia Cava experienced an increase in stamina and endurance, and felt more energized for a longer period of time.
